World Book Day

Uncategorized No Comments »

To celebrate World Book Day we had two special visitors to the KS2 Assembly. Deborah, who is from Wigan Book Cycle and Maxwell, who had travelled all the way from Ghana. They came to show us how the books we have donated have gone to Ghana to be used by the children there. Maxwell especially wanted to thank the children for the books, which are now being used in a school in Ghana.

The children and staff all had a fantastic time in France. I was extremely proud of all the children – they were brilliantly behaved all weekend and joined in everything with enthusiasm. I hope they remember the trip for a long time.

Christmas

Uncategorized 1 Comment »

This term has been a fantastic term at Mab’s Cross. Over the last couple of weeks the children have been showing off their talents in many ways – Mab’s Cross has Got Talent, Year 4 String Performance, Year 4 Christmas Performance, Mrs Marsh’s Christmas assembly and Reception Nativity. Tomorrow we will also be holding our Carol Service at St Michael’s Church.
I would like to wish all our children and their families a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Well done to our football team who won the final of the Wigan Schools’ football competition last night, beating St Wilfrid’s Primary School 2-0.
All our teams are performing so well at the moment – I am very proud of them all!!

Year 6 seem to be having a fabulous time at Boreatton Park.  I am looking forward to hearing about their experiences when they return. Take a look at their photographs.

So proud!

As I walk round I am so proud of the work the children have displayed around school.  All the art displays are beautiful, and I am really looking forward to our Art Exhibition on Monday – I am sure all our parents will be very impressed!  Well done to our Reception and Year 1 children (and parent helpers!) who have made some fabulous aliens over the half term holiday.  They make a superb display in our Reception/Year 1 corridor.

We have a lot of sporting achievements to celebrate at the moment too – both our basketball and rugby teams have reached the Manchester Games.  Well done to all team members!

Class assemblies

Today Mr Holding’s class have performed their class assembly all about their topic on Ancient Egypt.  It was an excellent performance which the children and parents really enjoyed.  Two weeks ago Mr Greaves and Mrs Housley’s class performed their assembly all about World War Two which was also brilliant.  At the end of today’s assembly I spoke to the parents and children about how impressed I am in the way the children have improved the assemblies over the last two years, showing their confidence and presentation skills.  Well done to both classes and I look forward to watching the next class assembly – Miss Holland’s class.

The last week has been wonderful in school.  Both the Reception nativity and the Year 3 production were excellent – we have some very talented children at Mab’s Cross!!  The children have also enjoyed parties, discos and non-uniform days.  This morning we had a whole school assembly and the children were entertained with a amusing performance of the 12 Days of Christmas !!!

I would like to wish all our families a Merry Christmas and peaceful New Year, and I look forward to seeing the children back at school on the 6th January.
